1987-1999, IIRC.

What? 1987? What on earth were the dates for tours 1-3, dare I ask?

1987 indeed--I saw Cats for the first time on May 3, 1987 and wound up seeing the inaugural cast of Tour IV.

I don't know what the earlier tour dates were--I think a couple tours ran simultaneously but I'm not sure.

Oh, I see....I wonder if anyone can clarify this?

I unfortunately don't have date ranges. But here's what I can tell you:

My first national tour souvenir brochure says "First Published: January 1984." Whether that means that's when the tour started or when that particular printing of the brochure came out, I don't know.

My "second national tour" (or more appropriately, Los Angeles) souvenir brochure says "First performance at the Shubert Theatre 11th January 1985."

I could have sworn I had a third national tour brochure. It bothers me that I either lost it somewhere among all our moving boxes, sold it, or never had it in the first place.

I'm a little fuzzy on the details, as this is something I used to know and have since forgotten the particulars of. But weren't the second AND third "tours" the Bus and Truck Company tours? It toured for a while (2) and then stayed in LA for a while (3), didn't it? If someone could verify, that would be awesome.

At anyrate, I've got a brochure from the Bus and Truck Co. tour, which says "First Published: October 1986"

The US TOUR II is the Los Angeles Run 1985-86. When CatsMusical.Com was up and running, I pulled off what cast lists were available for the tour. My brochure from the run at the Shubert in Hollywood states the first performance was 11 January 1985. The last cast reference I have is October 1986. I do not have I or III available, and the database for the shows and cast are still down.
