OK I am done with Misto Vest 2.0

I added the mesh overlay to hide the wires and also make him Bling !!

Here is a Video of the Vest http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAxOdkcYlRE

And Here is a photo of it right after completionImage

I sweated bullets sewing that Faux Rhinestone embedded Mesh .

I had to make the machine dodge the stones . And I was afraid of it fraying to death .
but it was SO worth the $30 Per Yard price I payed for that fabric.

It really complements it quite well .
Note: I am Not attaching the Mesh to the Vest .I need coastaint access to the bulbs and wires ,
Also having it in 2 makes its simper for the TSA to inspect it if need be with out destroying it.

Its a lovely west and the wiring scheme sounds easy enough even for a guy with my limited (Well I am not an electro engineer, anyway) skills in wiring and electrical stuff. If I had more skills in putting electro gear together and wanted a full misto suit I would definately give it a try.

Nice job RTT! I like! In the finished version did you stick with the bulbs or go to LEDs? You could do some neat stuff with all the colored LEDs available.

Oh, and if you ever need cheap LEDs for something and you can't find Christmas lights in March, go to a dollar store and find some light up kids toys. I found some light up wands with several bright white LEDs in them. I think I freaked out the store clerk when I paid for it, then immediately broke the colored lens off so I could get the true color of the LED. Just an idea I thought I'd pass along...

The current version uses the same bulbs used in the real ones I have worked with .
Xmas strings are wired in series most of the time so there a PITB to rewire for 12V operation .

LEDs are Great but I kinda wanted the warm glow of a filament .

In my next version I am making my own SMT LED pads to use these
http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G17458
There 1 Watt 100 Lumens!!! X 80 LEDs that's 4 times the brightness of a projector.
Mind that there pulsed and are PWM'ed to lower levels .
But It would be cool to see a Mega Disco Strobe misto ..

OR use these RGB LEDs
http://www.goldmine-elec-products.com/prodinfo.asp?number=G17330
with a µ controller . ( Propeller or a BS2 ) to do control them as a " Light organ "...

Right now cash is tight but Vest 3.0 Will be done .It Has to be !
